Re: To Competitive with Stats?

People get carried away with alcohol. Drink too much and die. Does that mean we should go back to prohibition?

Stats are a great tool when used responsibly. Sure there are those who take it too far, "my K/D 2.8 and yours is 2.1. You obviously suck at this game". "Oh yeah, well you got a 2.8 because you camp".

I use stats to judge the effectiveness of my game. I compare various different figures to determine if what I'm doing is worth doing. You can't really judge your performance on on feeling. For instance today I was trying out some unconventional play by randomly laying prone in various places. I felt that I wasn't being productive at all because I didn't get into much action. At the end of the game I felt like I had fit the stereotypical "camper" role. Then I looked at my stats. I went 23-8 with 16 tags. Not bad really. We won the game by a good bit and I finished 3rd on the team, first had over 300 tags and 40 kills so it looked at is if my tactic pulled more than it's fair share of weight.

Stats can be useful.
