Re: Ghosts is exposing some players for what they really are

That's largely the feeling I get when I see people complain something is OP/UP.

When they say something is OP and needs to be nerfed and vice-versa, chances are high that the person is saying that the OP weapon should ONLY be nerfed for everyone BUT themselves. Same with them saying something UP should be buffed. They may say, in general, that it should be buffed, but in their mind, they're more than likely thinking, "It should be buffed ONLY for me, not for everyone else", and seem to convince themselves that's how it will play out; that they'll be the exception. Then, if/when the nerf/buff does happen, and they see that they themselves are affected by it just like everyone else, they then complain either about something else OR the opposite; that the nerfed thing should now be buffed or vice-versa, now being "too weak/strong".

So rather than through player actions (changing playstyle, loadouts, whatever), players just expect to be babied by the devs, and the devs usually tend to give in in some way, making the sense of "entitlement" grow.

The EMP Grenade complaints in BO2 being a big example I tend to use. So many "Too OP! Nerf it!" complaints. However, rather than...I don't know....STOP using things like the Bouncing Betty, Claymore, Shock Charge, Guardian, Sentry Gun, etc and try other Lethals/Tacticals/Scorestreaks, the very things that made people turn to the EMP Grenade in the first place, people just complain, complain, complain, then CONTINUE to use those very things that ensure the EMP Grenade will be used in response. If people took the time to use other things, thus taking away the big reasons for the EMP Grenade to be used so much, then the EMP Grenade users will eventually see that it no longer is destroying tons of equipment, thus not scoring them nearly as many points anymore, and will also switch to other things to use that would help them more. Then, if people chose, they could switch back.

This is how the game should change as the year goes on, not solely through dev intervention.
